Crossfade merupakan sebuah kugiran rock America yang berasal daripada Colombia, South Carolina. Dianggotai oleh Ed Sloan (lead vocals/guitar), Les Hall (lead guitar/keyboard/backing vocals), Mitch James (backing vocals, bass) dan Mark Castillo (drum). Genre yang diketengahkan oleh Crossfade adalah hard rock, alternatif metal, post grunge dan heavy metal.

Ditubuhkan pada tahun 1999 dengan nama The Nothing. Selepas itu nama, kumpulan telah ditukar kepada Sugardaddy Superstar pada tahun berikutnya. Kemudian pada tahun 2002, kugiran ini sekali lagi menukarkan nama kumpulan mereka kepada 'Crossfade' selepas kemasukan James Branham menggantikan pemain dram asal, Brian Geiger yang telah beralih bidang.

Band indie + acoustic + jazz ini mula ditubuhkan pada tahun 2006. diasaskan oleh gitaris/penyanyi Liyana dan gitaris utama Yob. Setelah sekian lama, muzik mereka telah menambat hati sebuah syarikat rakaman label indie iaitu Laguna Music pada tahun 2007.

Right now we are in the state of testing a new thin client terminal for our mini library and for circulation counter. We looking for the sustainability dan juga reliability mesin thin client ini. Setakat ini kami telah menguji keupayaan javascript kerana portal organisasi banyak kandungan java. So far, for that memang tiada masalah untuk fungsi web browsing. Selain daripada itu, pihak kami akan menguji dengan memasang sistem pengurusan perpustakaan bersepadu di Citrix Xenapp server untuk melihat kemampuannya. Ini adalah sebuah lagi thin client yang akan digunakan di organisasi kami selain daripada unit thin client daripada Sun Microsystem iaitu Sun Ray 150 dan Sunray 170.

Namun, ternyata unit client ini hanya sebuah unit entry-level dan hanya sebuah vga port sahaja tanpa port dvi untuk menggunakan lebih daripada 1 monitor.

Update on Naza Kia Forte

I'd visited a Naza showroom to lookout for a new forte at Naza ipoh showroom. What can I say...it is astonishing! Even my wife said with the same tune as me. It's really like a european design cue. I wish I could own one....he!he!

Just look at the design cue...the engine department look neat.

The interior looking nice and state-of-the-art design. Even though the grilled has been badged as Naza but on the steering wheel they still had Kia badge. Then I've told that version is only for CBU unit. After CKD, it will replace with Naza badge.

This is the interior of SX version. it has digital air condition controller. The EX which is the basic version gets the manual...the dialing button.

What is nitrogen ? Nitrogen is a colorless, odourless, tasteless and non-toxic gas that forms about 78% of the earth's atmosphere.

Nowadays, many consumer-use or normal passenger vehicles has inflated their tyres with nitrogen. It is well known that nitrogen gas has been used to inflate the tyres of racing cars, aircraft and heavy commercial vehicles.

The claimed benefits are:
1. reduces tyre's running temperature.
2. improves the ride quality.
3. increases tyre life
4. keeps tyre pressures more constant.

I'm too a user of nitrogen. As far as concern, I only fill up air to my tyres every 6 months and refill the gas after 1 year. It really prolong the pressure and really, really increase the tyre life.

A new thin client from HP

HP had announced the new thin client - HP 4410t which come in a notebook form factor and run Windows Embedded Standard (as usual) operating system. This new mobile thin client is derived from ProBook 4410. It put variety for highly regulated industries including distribution, education, finance, government, healthcare, insurance and manufacturing.

No hard drive included, it uses 1GB or 2GB of flash drive with preloaded Windows Embedded Standard (WES) operating system. According to HP, the 4410t mobile thin client will be available in mid-July for starting price of USD549.00.

IGEL one direka khusus untuk persekitaran pengguna sehingga 250 pengguna seperti kampus sekolah dan kolej, rangkaian pengeluaran produk perkilangan dan juga untuk kegunaan industri kecil dan sederhana. Alright. Again with water purifier. Yup...i'm still interested with it. This post will cater for Nesh new purifier called Nesh Qoozo.

This water purifier is using 3 cartridges system with 12 steps of highly effective filtration. The technology used were using electric input and environmental ozonation.

Stage 1 - Ceramic filter.

Stage 2 - activated carbon block. Job is to filter chlorine and other harmful chemicals. Also filter out odor and taste.

Stage 3 - Filter pellets and oil-based materials.

Stage 4 - Filter chlorine more effectively. Removes bacteria.

Stage 5 - Filter out heavy metals and microorganism.

Stage 6 - Filter chlorine, bacteria and organic pollutants.

Still continuing with the water purifier. Bored? I'm not. I'll chose TecnoWater water purifier for this post. TecnoWater was developed by Swiss company. This water purifier system used water pressure to conducting purifying process and it used 5 cartridge system with 8 steps of filtering. Using the same concept as RX water purifying system except TecnoWater applying 5 cartridge system as I was mentioned.

1st Cartridge - filters out contaminants, rust and other minute particles as well as any bacteria and protozoans.

2nd catridge - remove odor and unpleasant tastes, ‘soften’ raw water, purify and release various minerals to give Rx-Water a pleasant taste.

3rd cartridge - eliminate ‘hard’ minerals and radioactive substances.

I actually were using this water purifier since 2003. What pushed me installing this thing is because the ability to remove the chlorin or chloride content in the water supply. Chlorin is extremely dangerous to our body especially to heart and kidney. And also your rice that you wash and rinse using purified water from TecnoWater can last for 3 days. Astonishing I say. AWD versus 4WD

4WD or four wheels drive usually described as truck-like vehicles that may allow the driver to manually or automatically switched from two-wheel mode or four-wheel mode.

4WD and "full-time" 4WD vehicles

AWD or All-Wheel Drive is often described as a full-time 4wd that may be used without destroying the drivetrain. (components that generate power and deliver it to the road surface, water, or air). AWD can be used on dry pavement because it employs a centre differential which allows each tyres to rotate at different speed.

But full-time 4wd can be disengaged and the differential can be locked just like Daihatsu Terios, Daihatsu Be-go or Perodua Kembara, essentially turning it into regular 4wd. While AWD, cannot be disengaged and and the differential cannot be locked. That is why all AWD vehicles or cars have traction control on it.

So what is a differential? Differential is a device, usuall but nt necessarily employing gears, capable of transmitting torque and rotation through 3 shafts. in car or automobiles, the differential allows each of the driving wheels to rotate at different speeds, while supplying equal torque to each of them.

The hunt for the new laptop

The request for the new laptop or notebook (commonly used...)has been rejected by ICT Department in my workplace. The reason was to cater for other people that yet don't receive the laptop to change with their desktop. Without any black & white, I've been told to wait until the end 2009. It is useless to wait, so I started my hunt. I've already had eye one of babelicious HP Pavillion dv series. (My first choice is DELL XPS, but Michael Dell is Jewish and he support Israel). So I began take some note of evaluation. The prey was HP Pavillion dv5-1140.

Laptop replacement, please!

Seriously, I need a laptop replacement. It started give me a headache a few weeks back then. Applications take time to appear, windows take longer time to boot up. Luckily this laptop is always on standby or hibernate note.

I started to use this IBM T40 on 2003, which is it aged more than 5 years. Eventually, techwares that aged more than 3 years are considered outdate. But it continue it services till now since my department didn't have any budget to replace 'em. Actually there are two more T40 in my department, 1 is used by senior officer and another 1 is by big boss. My big boss's T40 is not consider for replacement because she have another desktop pc for her used. But for us, we relied everyday to this T40. Especially moi...as one of the automation and IT backboner in this department, I need somethings that can cope with my daily work.

This T40 had been upgraded to 512MB, but with the application like Adobe Acrobat 9.0, Photoshop CS3, Pinnacle Studio 11.0 and others updated version of office suite and graphic software, this baby still look pathetic.
And yes, I'm using dual monitors. Much much better view when using multiple monitors. It feel awkward...when not using dual monitor. Like my pc at home. But much better than using this laptop with its memory 2.0 GB rather 512MB.

Wow...! Now a list of items that I require for the year 2009. Let's start with a speaker system brought by Creative, GigaWorks T40.

I've been eyeing this piece of techware for my division use for year 2009. It is more 'thingy' to used and practical rather than getting around with the thumb drive hanging at your neck or your staff card. with 160Gb at least, I think we look more cool rather bring more than two thumb drives.

Wyse Technology, the thin client supplier has revised its operating system, Wyse Thin OS 6.3, to include a collaborative processing architecture.

Collaborative processing architecture (CPA) detects when a server is engaged in a cpu-intense activities, such as multimedia decoding, on behalf of an end user and shift that activity to the cpu in the thin client. It means it will increase the role of the client to share responsibility to implement processing.

According to Ricardo Antuna, Wyse VP of Product Management, designing end user computing araound thin clients can save on the servers, heat dissipation and electricity used in the data centre. It just look like fat client for me. And as far as my concern, in the environment of library for user whose just retrieve the information from the terminal or search resources through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), it couldn't fits well.
Because thin client consists of dumb terminal for the user and the processing will be done in the server. What Wyse is doing is the same as HP has done, produce a small form pc that they called thin client.
